WHO ARE WE?
Chairman Sarah-Jane Sewell Having always been someone who has been interested in politics in general, with involvement on School Councils and the Youth Council, amongst other committees. It was a great honour to be the founder and First Elected Chairman of the Spalding and the Deepings Constituency Conservative Future Branch. The Conservative Party is a strong and forward thinking party in modern day Britain, whilst still maintaining traditional values. It is a great pleasure to be a member of a party which values Youths so much, rather than persecuting them. Society today may appear to cover young people in a dark cloud, but being a member of Conservative Future gives us the opportunity to step up and voice our opinions, giving a positive image for young people, and revitalising what some may see as an ageist political system. Young people CAN stand up make a positive difference. We are the Future; the Future will not come to us, so we must go to it, and make it the best Future possible. Through Social Action projects, engaging young people in politics and aiding the Conservative Politicians, WE WILL ACHIEVE! |
Deputy Chairman (Political) Richard Skells I joined the Conservative future to really show my support for my party. I have had political experience through my chairmanship of the South Holland Youth Council, and wished to provide assistance for the Chairman in her role. This is why I became Vice Chairman. I believe that to be in touch with politics is something that should be nurtured and encouraged. It is policies that are passed within parliament that can directly affect us in day to day life, and by getting involved, I can discuss new policies and remain more up to date with our politics as well as meet new friends with the same kind of values that I hold myself. |
Deputy Chairman (Membership) Daniel Chapman I have for such a large part of my life, been driven by my ideals. Even before I became a member of the party at fourteen, I knew what my basic guiding principles were: that the best person to look after my life was and still is me; that I can make better decisions for my own life than any government or public body can. Ronald Reagan the father of modern day Conservatism once proclaimed that "as government expands, liberty contracts." Ever since I've been able to build upon my basic principles; that it's through lower taxes and less governmental interference business can thrive and help to produce real growth. |
Secretary and Social Action Officer Zoe Lane My interest in politics first became apparent in the period of the 2010 election. Before then, I had my own ideas on political matters, but never really considered it as politics, or had an alignment with any specific party. However, I did know that I believed people should earn their privileges from the state, and knew that this was a view commonly associated with the Conservative Party. My fascination with politics and my similarities with the Conservatives became increasingly apparent over this last academic year, during which I followed an AS Government & Politics course. It was with the founding and invitation to join Conservative Future that I joined the party, in which I have taken quite an active role. Cliché though it may sound, my aim is to give something back to the great society in which I was born and raised, and to express my honest opinion, as well as removing the social stigma that seems to have developed towards politics amongst so many young people. Zoe has been appointed Social Action Officer as of January 2012 |
Treasurer Tom Larham I joined the conservative party because I have been interested in politics for some years now and joining the party has given me closer involvement than merely observing politics. Why, however, did I decide to join the Conservatives? There are afterall many parties present within Britian's diverse political spectrum. The reason why is because the conservative party are quite simply the common sense party of today's politics. No longer is the party the reserve of the rich and titled or the middle class businessman; today the party can represent all sectors of society with a powerful ethos. Work hard and you will be rewarded is the party's ethos and this is something that I hope to live up to as Treasurer for the local Conservative Youth Branch. I believe that a Conservative government left to it's own would produce a strong and healthy society for Britain and steer her well into the new adventure that is the 21st century; and we can all play our part. |
Press Officer Adam Lane I joined the Conservative Future because, as I grew up, I was presented with a whole range of political opinion. I formed my own views, and found they coincided nicely with those of the Conservatives. From there, I decided I would love to go into politics, at any level, and found out about the Conservative Future branch from a few friends.
I hope to continue this on through later life, and forge my own path through the Conservative party. I've always loved the debating, the speeches, the campaigns in general. There's something so... inspiring about politics, it's so fundamental in the U.K.; I'll never know why there has been a decline in interest over recent years. |
Member Adam Reece I joined the Conservative Party as I believe that it is vital to Great Britain’s continued role as a leading economy to reverse the damage done by the previous government. Our debt-dominated culture (both politically and at a personal level) has become a major threat to all UK residents, and it is only with a strong, committed fiscal policy that we can balance the books and set a course that doesn’t rely on spending money that isn’t there. |
Member Alex Richardson I joined Conservative Future because I not only wanted to be a member of the Conservative Party but so I could engage, discuss and play a vital part in the decisions that are made both by local and national government. I want to show people that the Conservatives can and will do everything in its power to make this country a wealthier and more successful place to live without having an overinflated public sector which often interferes in our everyday lives. We should be allowed to make our own choices in life and Mrs Thatcher once said there was "no such thing as society" and I believe there is no such thing as society from the point of view as it is the individual who can obey or not the decisions that are made by society. I believe it is the Conservatives who are the party that values the collective of the individual, as one size does not fit all. |
